DOST MisOcc turns over funds for DRRM projects in Don Victoriano

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Misamis Occidental partnered with local government unit (LGU) Don Victoriano for the implementation of projects under the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program.

One is the ceremonial turn over of funds to enhance the LGUs Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) initiatives through the adoption of DOST technologies and provision of VHF radios to better equip the municipality in terms of disaster prevention and mitigation.

Furthermore, the women members from Nueva Vista Strawberry and Vegetable Farmers Association (NVSVFA) will be capacitated using DOST technology in the processing of innovative strawberry products to ensure value-adding of their harvest.

During the activity, Mayor Bertoldo J. Murallon, Jr. raved about Don Victoriano’s thriving ecotourism to DOST Misamis Occidental staff.

"Salamat DOST sa inyong dakong tabang na mapadali ang pag-responde sa LGU panahon sa mga emergency og peace and order. Ang atong mga strawberry farmers kay madunggan na ilang income pina-agi sa inyo supporta sa pagvalue-adding," added Mayor Murallon Jr.

(Thank you DOST for your great help to facilitate the response of the LGU during emergencies and peace and order. Our strawberry farmers will hear their income through your support in value-adding.) (DOST MisOcc)
