Oroquieta City celebrates 94th Cabecera, 54th Charter Day through 'Pista sa Nayon'

Oroquieta City recently celebrated their 94th Cabecera and 54th Charter Day Celebration which ended with a Barangay Night with the theme Pista sa Nayon.


All the 47 barangays in the city put up different booths that describe it as a festival in their area, giving a festive mood to the activity.


“I was overwhelmed sa ilahang preparation, grabeh ka nice ug gi andaman gayud. Klase klase na pagkaon ug gimik [I was overwhelmed with their preparation, it is super nice because they have prepared immensely. Different kinds of food and gimmick,” Mayor Lemuel Acosta said.




The participation of different barangays in the city is based on the belief that the strength of Oroquieta comes from the barangay. “If one is missing dili na nato matawag nga Oroquieta [we cannot call it Oroquieta, mao ng maghugpong gayud sa kanunay para mo Asenso ta [that is why we need to gather regularly to achieve progress,” the mayor said.


To add color to the event, the city government also invited the leaders of the Cabecera Movement and the Cityhood of the beloved city.


The city also honored all the past municipal presidents, municipalities and city mayors of the city, because they all contributed a lot to make Oroquieta what it is today.


The Cabecera and Charter Day Celebration is an event basically looking back at yesterday to honor the personnel who have contributed a lot to make the city what it is today and at the same time looking forward to where the city will be taken tomorrow. (Oroquieta LGU)
