With the exhibited benevolence of Governor Henry Oaminal, the province of Misamis Occidental continues to thrive, with more infrastructure projects springing up, especially boosting tourism.

Among the initiatives now slowly being realized is the redevelopment of the Plaridel Municipal Plaza, where the capsule-laying and groundbreaking ceremonies were spearheaded. Such a project amounts to P21 million and is currently undergoing the procurement process.

Oaminal conveyed his firm belief that the municipal plaza would serve as a conducive venue for various activities in the locality.

Moreover, he said this would also be recognized as a go-to for tourists and, more importantly, a safe haven where families and kids could relax, play, enjoy themselves, and create more memorable experiences.

Further, through the collective efforts of the office of the governor, First District Representative Jason Almonte, and the municipal officials, another milestone was celebrated in Plaridel town, August 18, with the blessing of the newly improvised municipal building and offices amounting to P3 million.

The event was personally graced by Governor Oaminal, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, First District Representative Almonte, Plaridel Municipal Mayor Gadwin Handumon, municipal and barangay executives, and different national government agencies and local government units (LGUs).

The said infrastructure is the product of the implementation of Phase 1 of the project and is expected to raise the standard for the delivery of basic services for the ease and comfort of the Plaridelnons. Located here are the offices of the treasurer and assessor and the government assistance for development center, formerly known as the one-stop shop.

The next phase is the renovation of the 2nd floor of the Municipal Hall, which will feature modern and sleek office spaces.

Meanwhile, the ceremonial switch-on of Polo Pitogo Electrification was conducted as well to showcase the improved electric power distribution in the same town.

The project is seen as benefiting at least 114 households, with over 390 individuals living in the area. This is funded by the provincial government of Misamis Occidental and the concerned LGU with a total of P1.4 million.

On the other hand, the ceremonial groundbreaking signaling the start of the construction of the Plaridel Sports Complex was likewise a fulfillment of the provincial government’s commitment to advocate for holistic sports development for the youth.

The project shall utilize the initial funding of P45 million to construct a newly improved oval track and football field. Additionally, this also marks the preparation of the province to host various local and national sports events such as the 2024 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA), 2025 Batang Pinoy, and 2026 Palarong Pambansa. One of the major projects is the construction of the Plaridel Sports Complex.

This initiative is expected to be completed on October 31, 2023.

Now more than ever, the provincial government remains fueled and on fire to push for undertakings dedicated to uplifting the lives of every Misamisnon. (Shaine Mae R. Nagtalon/PGMO)
