Sapang Dalaga opens first floating playground in MisOcc

To boost outdoor activities while also maximizing the potential of its tourist sites, Sapang Dalaga ‘Floating Playground’ officially opened and ready to entertain visitors and tourist located at Caluya, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental along with the other popular tourist spots of Sapang Dalaga namely the Caluya Floating Cottages and Caluya Shrine.



The floating playground covers an area of 3,500 square meters inflatable island and waterpark. This is equivalent to the area covered by four basketball courts.



Governor Henry S. Oaminal together with First District Rep. Jason P. Almonte and Sapang Dalaga Mayor Donjie Animas and other mayors led the ribbon cutting of new Sapang Dalaga "Floating Playground," March 18, the first of its kind in the province of Misamis Occidental.



In his message, Sapang Dalaga Mayor Donjie Animas said the main purpose of having the "Sapang Dalaga Floating Playground" is to improve and provide employment opportunities to the residents of Sapang Dalaga.



“Ang lugar sa Caluya, ang lugar sa Sapang Dalaga nga importante ang establishment nato safe and secured mao na’y pinaka importante. Akong gi-capture ang opportunidad nga kini nga establishment usa kini nga maka pa asenso sa lungsod sa Sapang Dalaga labi na sa Caluya aron makahatag ug employment ug usa kini ka instrumento aron mo asenso ta diri sa Misamis Occidental,” the mayor said.

I captured the opportunity that this establishment is one that can further promote the town of Sapang Dalaga especially Caluya in order to provide employment and this is an instrument to promote us here in Misamis Occidental)



Meanwhile, Governor Henry S. Oaminal shared that tourism is one of the major programs of his administration highlighting the 5Ms, “Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon [Misamis residents to live peaceful, progressive and happy],”



Magmalinawon gyud ta gawas nga ang atong kapulisan, atong kasundaluhan are working very hard to maintain, preserve our peace and order and further improve what has to be improved. Kini atong mga facilities ug atong mga programa dako pod ni ug tabang magpuyong malinawon. Ang atong kabataan nga malayo na sa ginadili nga droga kay naa man ta’y mga lugar nga ilang ka anhian,” he emphasized.



(Let's be peaceful aside that our police, our army are working very hard to maintain, preserve our peace and order and further improve what has to be improved. These facilities and our programs will hugely help us live peacefully. Our children are far away from illegal drugs because we have places for them to come)




The governor also emphasized that the goals for tourism in Misamis Occidental are to attract more investors, to provide employment opportunities and to generate revenues.


"Ang turismo maka invite ug daghang turista, domestic and international so gawas nga it will improve our economic condition, it will also improve sa atong ekonomiya, it will create job opportunities and then it will also increase the local revenues of the local government,” the governor said.

As part of the efforts to boost the tourism sector, Oaminal strongly supports to further develop existing tourist destinations and develop new ones in the province of Misamis Occidental.



The local government will give P12 million enhancement support for the development of tourism program in Sapang Dalaga town.



In an interview, Lilibeth Bagundol Nagal, a resident from Barangay Caluya was amazed at the newest attraction.



“Perting gyud nindota tungod kay first and ever nga niay floating playground sa Misamis Occidental especially located gyud diri ra pod sa Sapang Dalaga. Unya maka attract pod ni sa mga tao nga mo bisita dnhi dili lang sa floating cottages sauna kundili add up gyud ni nga amenities.Dako gyud kaau ug ikatabang kay unang una ang turismo dako kaayo nag katabang ug maka dugang pod ug mga panarbaho sa mga katawhan labi na nga labi na niini nga dapit,” she shared.



(It's really beautiful because it's the first and ever floating playground in Misamis Occidental especially located right here in Sapang Dalaga. Then it can attract people to visit here, not just the floating cottages, but this will add up for their amenities especially in this area. This will be a big help first to the tourism and it will also help to add employment to the people especially the residents who live nearby)



Both kids and adults can enjoy over 32 fun activities on the playground, making it a perfect place to have fun with family, friends, and even colleagues at work.



Among the activities you can enjoy are the Giant Tarzan swings, Human Launcher, Iceberg, Trampoline that fits 10 people jumping all together. Some more of the play area are the Giant slides, Donuts, Giant Hotdog, Mountain slide, Mini Tarzan swing and more.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
