MisOcc LGU awards 493 exceptional Misamisnon students

To motivate and inspire Misamisnon students and graduates to strive harder for excellence, the provincial government of Misamis Occidental holds the Asenso Misamisnon Academic Excellence Awarding Ceremony at Provincial Cultural and Farmers Training Center, December 16, giving recognition to 493 exceptional Misamisnon students for their exemplary performance, dedication and hard work.


In her welcome message, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez congratulated the young Misamisnons for their academic achievements.


“This ceremony intends to acknowledge your fervent efforts and excellence which made all of us here proud Misamisnons. Kamo ang gapamatuod nga ang mga kabatan-onan sa Misamis Occidental dili basta-basta [You are proof that the youth in Misamis Occidental are not so-so] and that excellence runs in our Misamisnon blood,” she said.


Governor Henry Oaminal has expressed his joy and pride as leader of Misamis Occidental for the achievement and accomplishment of the student achievers - four topnotchers, eight summa cum laudes, 136 magna cum laudes, and 245 cum laudes from various universities and colleges.



“I can’t help but brim with pride because I am now directly speaking to our future leaders, our successors here in the capitol and in different leaders of good governance. As I am speaking to the brilliant Misamisnons who will help us shape the future of the province of Misamis Occidental,” he said.


“You are here today because you did not only persevere with the challenge of student life but you finished it with grace and pride. It is decent to complete the race but bringing home honor and award gives a different sense of accomplishment. Your academic achievement gave the province pride and honor because we are now known as a province who cultivate academic achievers. So it is just fitting to devote this activity to recognize and honor your efforts and contribution to the overall development thrust of the Provincial Governor," he added.


During the awarding ceremonies, Committee on Education chairperson, Board Member Agnes Villanueva, said that appreciation and recognition are powerful motivators leading to increased performance.


She also shared ordinance number 45-21 otherwise known as the province of Misamis Occidental cash rewards ordinance for Misamisnons who showed exemplary performance in college, bar and board examinations is being implemented here.


Each awardee received cash incentives and additional P5,000 cash from Governor Oaminal. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
