DepEd Ozamiz holds 11th Guro Awards Plus

The Department of Education Division of Ozamiz City held the 11th Guro Awards Plus with the theme, "Celebrating Milestones to Leverage Learning Recovery Strategies" at Ozamiz City Gym on December 9.
The 11th Guro Awards aims to give recognition to the highest performing teaching and non-teaching and recognition of outstanding partners and stakeholders.
In her welcome message, DepEd Ozamiz City Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Myra P. Mebato recognized the efforts, sacrifices and contributions of partners for continuing the programs of DepEd.
“The Department of Education was able to somehow surmount extraordinary challenges brought about by the global pandemic. The sourmounting of these challenges was made easier by our education partners who never tired of supporting all our educational endeavors, all of them have contributed in no little measure towards successes in the Division of Ozamiz City," Mebato said.
Meanwhile, Ozamiz City Schools Division Superintendent Jean G. Veloso shared the very reason for celebrating the 11th Guro Awards Plus.
"Today,we have our 11th Guro Awards Plus because we want to celebrate our gains, we want to celebrate our milestones, we want to celebrate what we have after the pandemic and even this time that we are on the post normal already," she said.
Veloso also said that they are making it as inspiration no matter how hard the past years have been. "We are here, we continue delivering our mandate and that is why we need to celebrate," she added.
The Superintendent also presented the DepEd Ozamiz report card. She emphasized that DepEd Ozamiz remain steadfast by their duties and responsibilities, functions and in terms of access, they provide access to education to all Ozamiznons.
To further provide access to education, Veloso announced the four new Integrated Schools namely Dimaluna Integrated School, Domingo Barloa Integrated School, Faustino Decena Integrated School, and Guingona Integrated School.
DepEd Ozamiz has 58 public schools and 56 Alternative Learning Center reciting in person classes for a total of 34,500 learners. They also have 5,500 learners in 14 private schools implementing in person classes and blended learning modality.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
