600 MisOcc SMEs get DSWD livelihood grant

A total of 600 beneficiaries from Oroquieta City, Ozamiz City, Plaridel, Calamba and Jimenez, Misamis Occidental received a P15,000 livelihood assistance from DSWD held at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Cultural and Farmers Training Center, Oroquieta City on November 17.(Asenso MisOcc)



A total of P9 million worth livelihood assistance were distributed to 600 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from three towns and two city’s in this province to help recover from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.


Governor Henry S. Oaminal led the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) distribution of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to beneficiaries of Calamba (50), Plaridel (75), Jimenez (50), Ozamiz (200), and Oroquieta (225).


The 600 beneficiaries each received P15,000 from DSWD and the provincial government of Misamis Occidental hoping to recover from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.


Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal emphasized that the financial assistance is a big help for the low-income residents in the province who are affected by the coronavirus disease or Covid-19.


"Mutaas inyong income, na increase pa ang atong Gross Domestic Product, mao kana ang atong programa karon. Kung gikahimuot ninyo ang tag P15,000, ayaw kabalaka kay inspired kaayo si Director Cui ug sa sunod tuig dungagan pa nato ni,” Oaminal said.


(Your income will increase, our Gross Domestic Product will increase, that is our current program. If you are happy with the P15,000 assistance, don't worry because Director Cui is very inspired and next year we will increase it even more)


Oaminal also said that he wanted to see the smiles every time he visits the market or store because they are not in debt with their businesses.


“Ang gusto nako makita inig subay nako sa inyong tindahan, inig adto nakos merkado, makita nako inyong mga pahiyom ug happy mo kay walay giapas na utang sa negosyo,” he added.


The governor also shared that the provincial officials will find ways to support the businesses individually and they will not go to the mayor, governor, vice governor and board members because Team Asenso will deliver the Christmas gifts.


“Mao kini atong direksyon. Ang atong vision Asenso Misamis Occidental. Ang atong goal Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,” he added.

Gov Oaminal also announced to distribute Christmas gifts to the farmers and to provide P5,000 financial assistance anytime before December.


LAG is one of the recovery programs of the government under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). It provides seed capital for new alternative income-generating projects.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
