DTI MisOcc urges sustainability among online consumers

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Occidental kicked off the Consumer Welfare Month with virtual Zumba to promote good health and well being as it continuous to encourage consumers to purchase goods online while being sustainable.

The Department's continuous assistance in encouraging consumers to purchase goods online while being sustainable is highlighted by the 2022 CWM theme, "Sustainable consumerism in the digital age."

“There’s a call of the time to be sustainable and especially now that we are in the age of digitalization so as consumers who are very active digitally. As we can see most of our consumption patterns, the way we buy things and the way we sell things are done online that’s why DTI makes it a point that consumerism must be sustainable especially in the digital age,” DTI Misamis Occidental, Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan said.

DTI Misamis Occidental, Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan, on Monday stressed the importance of celebrating the consumer month to empower the consumers.

“This month-long celebration is to promote consumer awareness and disseminate Consumer Information to both public and private sectors on policies and programs affecting consumer welfare,” she said.

Tabucan also reminded everyone to be vigilant, responsible and sustainable.

As for the month long activities for the consumer month celebration, DTI MisOcc continues to hold Press Conference on Consumer Welfare Month Celebration on October 5 at Fishyalan Aquapark in Sinacaban, and Retailers forum on Mandatory Products standards in celebration of the National Standards Week on October 10.

Other activities include the conduct of Diskwento Caravan Fiesta Edition in Oroquieta City on October 13-14 at the City Plaza, Online Consumer Advocacy to empower the youth 17 October and Provincial Quiz Bowl on October 18.

For the culmination, the Bagwis awarding will also be conducted for the provincial awardees.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
