SSS to implement new programs for informal economy

The Social Security Service (SSS) will be implementing new innovative programs to ensure social security coverage for informal economy workers, help members save more for their retirement, and for employers and members to settle their contribution and loan delinquencies.

SSS Senior Vice President for Mindanao Operations Group Edwin M. Alo announced that by next year, three important programs will be provided by SSS.

“Usa ni ana ang pag-uswag sa deadline sa contributions alang ni-adtong mga registrado nga mga farmers and fishermen. Ikaduha, aduna nata’y regular nga condonation program para sa mga wala maka bayad sa ilang loan. Kung aduna ta’y mga loan nga wala bayari pwedi ma apply ug regular basis. Ang ikatulo mao ang contribution subsidy program,” Alo said.

(One of these is the extension in the contribution deadline for those registered farmers and fishermen. Second, there is a regular condonation program for those who have not paid their loan. If there are unpaid loans, they can be applied through a regular basis. Lastly, the contribution subsidy program)

The reason to extend the payment for farmers and fishermen is to ensure their SSS coverage and full benefits.

Alo explained farmers and fishermen do not have a regular monthly income from their produce so they will be given one year to pay back their contributions.

Individuals and groups are also encouraged to subsidize monthly contributions of SSS members through the Contribution Subsidy Provider Program (CSPP).

This promotes the spirit of Bayanihan by encouraging individuals and groups to subsidize monthly contributions of select SSS members.

Under this, any individual, group, or corporation willing and able to pay the SSS contributions of identified SSS members for at least six months could become a contribution subsidy.

Alo emphasized that SSS reached another milestone in the history and there is no better way of celebrating this momentous occasion than showcasing new programs that will benefit the members and beneficiaries.

This also strengthens SSS commitment in fulfilling their mandate of providing social security protection for the next 65 years and beyond (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
