A bakeshop, Thea Marie Bakehaus located at Brgy. Lower Polao, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, owned and managed by Mrs. Teresa Z. Manlangit did not just have upgraded production equipment but also improved its production building, compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and enhanced product label through the Consultancy Services of Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Employing three production workers, the firm produces Hopia using low capacity and manual equipment, but in the year 2021, the firm was able to upgrade its production operation thru the DOST-Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

The assistance enabled the firm to semi-mechanize its operation, reduce production time, and increase production volume by 70%.

With a smarter production operation, the firm was able to produce additional products such as Cake in a Tub, Cheese sticks, and enhanced “Bagumbayan” old bread.

Moreover, on August 28 this year, Mrs. Manlangit launched Thea Marie Bakehaus' additional branch in Maloro, Tangub City showcasing its improved products.

The DOST-SETUP assistance amounting to Php 389,700.00 was for the procurement of one unit Spiral Mixer, one unit Three-Deck Oven, one unit Proofer, and a GMP-compliant production table. (DOST-MisOcc/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
