TUDELA, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—To actively involve all stakeholders in the conduct and establishment of regreening projects, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Misamis Occidental in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Agriculture (DA) kicked off the Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity on September 13, Barangay Buenavista, Tudela town.

More than 1,000 tree seedlings were planted consisting mostly of indigenous tree species like Narra, Mahogany and fruit trees.

The theme “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan,” aims to involve the local government units and communities, said DILG Provincial Director Pablio Benitez Jr.

“Nagtimbayayong ang government agencies aron mas mapakaylap nato ug mas daghan ang ma-involve sa maong tree planting or tree growing activity. Dapat taga-tuig nato ni ginabuhat ang tree planting kay it's part of our effort kauban ang civil society organization para mapadayon gyud nato ang atong tema karon nga “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan." Dili lang ni siya dapat once a year but everyday must be a way of life of the people to really preserve ug mapadayon nato nga green gyud atong palibot,” the director said.

(The government agencies are working together so that we can spread more and more people can be involved in this tree planting or tree growing activity. The tree planting should be done every year because it is part of an effort with the civil society organization so that we can continue our current theme. We should not only do it once a year but everyday must be a way of life of the people to really preserve and we can keep our environment really green)

Benitez urged the LGUs and stakeholders to help ensure that the planted trees will thrive and help ensure the sustenance of the activity.

He also lauded the undertaking as he described that part of the mandate of the local government units is to really make sure that they preserve the environment and its part of their basic services, the green surroundings.

“Dako ang among pasalamat with the DENR sa malampuson nga activity nato. Karon naa ang among DILG family, ang support sa PNP, BFP, AFP, Civil Society Organization, DENR, LGU Tudela, Barangay Officials and residents and the provincial government of Misamis Occidental,”he said.
