“I appealed to everyone, especially to us here in the city hall. We are all public officials and employees; we have to serve as examples to the greater public. Magpabooster nata katong mga entitled or eligible na (We should all get boosted especially to those entitled and eligible),” he said during the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall Grounds.
The mayor also reminded the public to continue observing health and safety protocols and not to be complacent.
Oaminal highlighted the importance of getting boosters shots. “Kailangan pa gyud nato ning buhaton ug kailangan gyud ta magpa booster because bisan pa nakalabaw nata sa kadaghanan sa LGU dili lang sa atong probinsya but sa tibook nasud in terms of our vaccination, dili ta pwedi magpa-apas because we're still in a pandemic,” he said.
(We really need to do this and we really need to get a booster because even though we have surpassed most of the LGUs not only in our province but in the whole country in terms of our vaccination, we can't catch up because we're still in a pandemic)
Oaminal also stressed that the vaccines are the only answer to the pandemic right now that has proven to be very effective.
“Let’s get all ourselves vaccinated, let’s take our first and second dose, first booster and second booster shots, let’s all cooperate because this will just be for the benefit of the entire city and province,” he added.
On the other hand, the local government of Ozamiz also received a remarkable appreciation and recognition from the Department of Health (DOH)-10 for achieving at least 70% fully vaccinated coverage of the total target population (80.67% of the 2022 target population) and 70% fully vaccinated coverage for senior citizens (85% of the 2022 target population for 60 years old and above) among the competent cities and municipalities nationwide as of June 30, 2022.
The Department of Health through the National Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center has earlier issued guidelines for the nationwide rollout of the second booster dose of the vaccine for all adults aged 50 years old and above and individuals aged 18 to 49 with comorbidities.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
