DOLE TUPAD releases P3.3M in Tangub
DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Ebba B. Acosta said the wages were paid to the beneficiaries’ ten-day work. The remaining funds were utilized to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), GSIS Insurance, and Identification Cards (ID's) for each of the beneficiaries.
The worker-beneficiaries who came from the different barangays in Tangub City performed clean-up drive and beautification of tourist activity areas, giving them the opportunity to improve the quality of their physical living conditions while contributing to the welfare of the community and the entire city.
"One of DOLE's pledges is to develop community employment through social, economic, and agro-forestry initiatives, giving the displaced employees an instant source of income," Acosta said.
TUPAD is a component of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) that provides the displaced and underprivileged workers temporary jobs.
Under the program, the beneficiaries engage in community-based works specifically clean-up and disinfection of public areas for a minimum of 10 days, not exceeding 90 days. (Lorraine M. Roa/DOLE Mis. Occ. PFO)
