25,000 patients catered by Malasakit Center in Ozamiz City

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, (PIA)— The Malasakit Center at Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center (MHARS-MC) in Ozamiz City reported that they have catered approximately 25,000 patients since it opened on January last year.

During the monitoring visit of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on October 12, the hospital revealed that they have assisted 25,000 indigent patients or clients for their hospitalization through the Malasakit Center.

Medical Center Chief Dr. Jesus Sanciangco III said, “We will continue our commitment and dedication to fight this pandemic since we are the COVID referral hospital and at the same time we are still accepting the non-covid patients especially the indigent patients.”

Aniano Rayon Descaliar Jr., beneficiary of the Malasakit Center in Ozamiz City shared how the center helped his wife with twice a week dialysis.

“Dako ang katabang sa Malasakit Center sa akong asawa nga nag kidney failure, nagka utang utang mi, dayon P5,000 per week ang dialysis, karon nga nadawat mi dinhi, nalipay kaayo ko, naibtan kog tunok,” he said.

(The center has helped me a lot for my wife who was diagnosed kidney failure, we have acquired debt and cost for dialysis is P5,000 per week, now that we are accepted here, I am so happy, a weight has been lifted from my shoulder)

Meanwhile, Go said, “Padayon mi magserbisyo sa inyong tanan kay para sa amo ang serbisyo sa tao. Naa nata’y natabangan nga 2 million ka mga pasyente nga natabangan sa tibuok Pilipinas.”

(We will continue to serve all of you because for us our service is the people. We have already helped 2 million patients all over the Philippines)

The senator gave credit to Malasakit Center employees and medical frontliners for their efforts to save and protect lives against COVID-19.

“Isa lang po ang paki-usap ko, huwag niyo pong pabayaan 'yung mga pasyente na mahihirap po, 'yung mga walang matakbuhan, 'yung mga helpless, 'yung mga hopeless po," he emphasized.

(I only have one thing to ask, please do not forget the patients who are poor, the ones who have nowhere to run, the ones who are helpless, the ones who are hopeless)

Go will download additional P10 million assistance for the operation of MHARS MC.

Go's team also provided meals, grocery packs, vitamins, masks, and face shields to the hospital staff, and medical personnel. New shoes and bicycles were given to select individuals for their daily commuting needs and likewise computer tablets to help children with school activities under the blended learning set-up.
