More than 200 job seekers flock in Tangub job fair 2023

The city government of Tangub, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment-Misamis Occidental (DOLE-MIsOcc) through the Public Employment Service Office - Tangub, and Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College (GADTC) held a one-day Job Fair 2023 with the theme,”Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan at People's Gym in Tangub City, May 16.




More than 200 job seekers flocked in Tangub, about six applicants were hired on the spot, while 78 were near-hire applicants.




During the Job Fair, the applicants had the chance to choose from the 400 job vacancies offered by the 17 employers. Service desks of the Social Security System, Philhealth, Pag-Ibig, and Philippine Statistics Authority were also available for the job seekers' convenience.




DOLE-MisOcc Provincial Director Ebba B. Acosta said the Job Fair 2023 in Tangub City aims to match unemployed citizens with employment opportunities that are suitable to their qualifications.




“Mao gyud ni siya ang insakto nga avenue between employees and job seekers nga magkita sila sa usa ka venue nga mo cater sa mga Tangubanons ug sa mga lumolupyo nga duol-duol sa Tangub City para makakita sila ug employment kay naa man ta’y daghan nga employeers nga gipang imbitter dinhi sa Tangub City,” she said.




(This is the right avenue between employers and job seekers to meet in a venue that caters to the Tangubanons and the residents who are close to Tangub City so that they can find employment because we have many employers who were invited here in Tangub City)




PESO-Tangub Manager Victoria Berioso stressed that the Job Fair 2023 in Tangub City does not only provide job opportunities for residents of Tangub but also nearby areas.




She added that it is part of the city's continuous efforts to address the issue of unemployment and economic development.




Ardeth M. Bitco, 23, from Barangay Maloro, Tangub City, a graduating HRM student in GADTC thanked the organizers of the event, as she was hired on the spot.




“I’m very thankful for this opportunity of the Job Fair dinhi sa LGU Tangub as well as DOLE and GADTC for encouraging us nga mo apil ani nga Job Fair kay it gives us opportunities nga makakita ug trabaho para makastart na dayon after mo graduate,” told to Philippine Information Agency-MisOcc, in an interview.

Meanwhile, Harzel C. Llido, 26, from Barangay Bocator, Tangub City, was hired as a Piggery Caretaker at Bersheba Country Farm.




“Daghan salamat sa atong Mayor Ben Canama sa pagpahigayon ani nga job fair, ug sa LGU, DOLE ug PESO. Dako gyud sya’g tabang labi na sa mga fresh graduate nga nagkinahanglan ug trabaho ug kato pod nawad-an ug trabaho. Nagkinahanglan gyud ko ug trabaho karon ka’y wala na akong papa then wala gyud nagtrabaho sa amoa nagsalig rami sa among uma maong ni apply gyud ko dinhi,” she shared.

I really need a job now because my father is gone, then no one is supporting our family, we only depend in our farm, so I applied here.)
