Social Security System (SSS) Ozamiz Branch is encouraging members to use online transactions for easier access to SSS information, services, and to carry out their transactions conveniently.

During the ‘Let’s Talk MisOcc’ virtual forum on April 25, Oroquieta City Branch Head Simon Jude Obut emphasized that their online services are made available on their website at www.sss.gov.ph to reduce walk-in clients visiting their offices.

“So tanan sa atong members, benefits pwede na i-file online as long as naa kay online connection sa inyong balay, you can transact with the SSS at your comfort of your home pero katong wala’y online facility you can visit our office naa ta’y e-center and navigate our computers ug katong dili kabalo sa paggamit ug computer ato pod sila tabangan nga maka transact sa SSS," he said.

(So all of our members, benefits can be filed online as long as you have an online connection in your home, you can transact with the SSS at the comfort of your home but for those who do not have an online facility you can visit our office. We have an e-center and navigate our computers and those who do not know how to use a computer will also help them transact with SSS)

Meanwhile, the Social Security System (SSS) Oroquieta City Branch will beef up efforts to reach out to informal sector workers and provide them with meaningful social security protection.

Obut also shared the importance of having SSS for the new generation.

“It's really worth it that you will become a member of SSS since ang (the) SSS duha kabuok ang iyang (has two) purposes. First, is to provide income maintenance sa atoang mga miyembro sa panahon nga matigulang na sila (to our members when they get old) unable na sila to (they are unable to) work for themselves ug wala na silay (they no longer have) income. Second, it provides a safety net para sa ilahang (for their) income.

Obut presented the mandate of SSS that is to provide meaningful protection to members and their beneficiaries against the hazards of old age, disability, death, sickness, maternity and other contingencies resulting in loss of income or financial burden.

(For instance, we will provide protection to the member and for their family. So now in our new terminology or tag line it has become 'Kasangga’ (partner). We can lend and we can help financially through financial benefits, loan privileges that are released to members to meet their short term credits)

SSS-Oroquieta branch has a total of 30,613 members consisting of employees, self-employed, the voluntary paying members, employers as well as household employees. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
