MisOcc guv extends aid to fire victims in Ozamiz

The Office of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental through the initiative and efforts of Governor Henry S. Oaminal extends help to the fire victims, February 7 in Purok-3, Barangay Lam-an, Ozamiz City.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)


A total of 12 families and 49 individuals whose houses in Purok 3, Barangay Lam-an in Ozamiz had been totally gutted down by fire, February 8, have received relief goods and cash assistance from Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal.



Each family received P3,000 cash, 25 kilos of rice, and assorted canned goods.



Board member and Lam-an Barangay Captain Henry “Sunny” Oaminal thanked the provincial government headed by Governor Oaminal for the quick aid for the victims of the fire.



“Through the effort of Governor Henry Oaminal, atong Vice Gov Wheng Gutierrez ug sa mga Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Nia karon ang 1ka sakong bugas gihatag prr family, assorted goods, ug duna pa gyud cash nga P3,000 gihatag sa atoang probinsya per family gihapon.Dako kaayo ni siya ug kaangayan sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga naapektahan sa atoang kalamidad kagahapon kay lage wala gyud tawun sila,”he said.



(Through the efforts of Governor Henry Oaminal, our Vice Gov Wheng Gutierrez and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Today, 1 sack of rice was given to each family, assorted goods, and there is still cash of P3,000 given to our province per family.



In an interview, Silvano Dayondon is thankful to the provincial government, and LGU for providing them the immediate assistance.



“Daghan kaayong salamat sa assistance nga gihatag sa amoa kay kini dako gayud katabang sa amoa pareha aning financial kay ipalit pod namo ni ug panginahanglan sa panimalay ilabina sa pagkaon. Salamat pod kaayo sa atong governor nga wala gyud mi talikdi ug giayudahan gyud mi sa among nahitabo,”he shared.



(Thank you very much for the assistance given to us because it is a great help for my family financially because we will also buy household needs especially food. Thank you very much to our governor who never abandoned us and really helped us with what happened)



Meanwhile, Ozamiz City Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal also provided them with relief goods and non-food supplies such as clothes, blankets and mats, while they continue to be temporarily sheltered in an evacuation center.



Barangay Captain Sancho “Sanny” Oaminal provided ready- to-eat food and will distribute cash assistance worth P5,000.



Aside from the assistance of the province and LGU, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also distributed family food packs and hygiene kits to the victims of fire whose houses were totally burned down.



Members of the 12 families or 49 individuals are temporarily being sheltered at Physicians Club House, Barangay Lam-am and to their respective families.(SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
