Misamis solon leads distribution of relief assistance, vows help for flood victims

A total of 5,598 families from Ozamiz City, Clarin, Sinacaban, and Tudela towns receive P5,000 cash each and relief goods from the provincial government of Misamis Occidental, Second District Rep. Misamis Occidental Second District Representative Sancho Fernando Oaminal together with Ozamiz City Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr, Clarin Mayor Jojo Roa, Sinacaban Mayor Dello Lood and Tudela Mayor Samuel Parojinog led the distribution of relief assistance for the flood-affected families in Ozamiz City, Clarin, Sinacaban and Tudela town who were badly affected by the unprecedented calamity last December 2022.

A total of 2,816 beneficiaries from Ozamiz City, Clarin, and Sinacaban town received P5,000 cash each and relief goods from the provincial government of Misamis Occidental, Second District rep. and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday, March 11, held at Ozamiz City Gym.

During the distribution of relief assistance, Second District rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal announced that the national government gave initial support for the rehabilitation of bridges, roads, and river controls that have been damaged by shear line.

“Tungod sa panaghiusa sa atong mga leaders, uban ni Governor Henry Oaminal nakakab-ot at niini nga mga pondo nga ipanghatag kaninyo ug ipang-repair sa atoang na damage nga infrastructure ug agriculture,” he emphasized.

(Because of the unity of our leaders, together with Governor Henry Oaminal, we have reached these funds that will be distributed to you and will repair our damaged infrastructure and agriculture.)

Rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal asked for the cooperation of the Misamisnons to work together and continue to support and trust their local leaders that if they give instructions, they will listen and obey to avoid damages and casualties.

“Kami sa team Asenso magpadayon ang among paningkamot nga makabangon ta ni aning nahitabo nga trahedya ug makapadayon ang atong pagkab-ot sa tinud-anay nga Asenso dili lamang sa atong distrito apan sa tibuok probinsya sa Misamis Occidental,” he shared.

(We in team Asenso will continue our efforts to recover from this tragedy and will continue to achieve true Asenso not only in our district but in the entire province of Misamis Occidental.)



Meanwhile, Some 2,782 families affected by floods and heavy rains brought about by shear line in Tudela town also received P5,000 cash aid and relief goods from DSWD, Second District rep, Gov. Henry Oaminal, and LGU Tudela.

In an interview, Avelina Neri Sarenogon from Barangay Masabud, Clarin town is very thankful for the assistance she received from the government.

“Dako kaayo ko ug pasalamat niining gihatag karon ni Governor kay makahatag pod ni sa amoang kalisodlabi na karon nga natagaan mi ug assistance ug food packs nga diin makahatag ug tabang sa akong pamilya.Dako na kaayo ning ikatabang labi na sa akong pamilya naa koy upat nga giatiman, naa koy amahan ug tulo ka anak ug duna pod koy bana nga maka palit gyud ko sa among gikinahanglan matag adlaw,” she said.

(I am very grateful for what the Governor gave today because it can help us in our difficulties, especially now that we have received assistance and food packs that help my family. These will help a lot, especially for my family. I have four to take care of, my father and three children, and I also have a husband. I can buy what we need every day.)


For this release, Around P27,990,000.00 worth of cash assistance and more than P4,000,000 worth of food packs were distributed to 5,598 families from district 2. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
