DTI MisOcc highlights campaign for clean energy transitions

In celebration of the World Consumers Rights Day 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Occidental highlighted the campaign for clean energy with the theme, "Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions" on March 15, at La Elena Fishyalan Aquapark, Sinacaban.



This highlights the vital role of consumers as key actors in accelerating clean energy transitions.



In her opening message, DTI- Misamis Occidental OIC Provincial Director Luz G. Galda said that this is an opportunity to draw attention to the fundamental rights of all consumers, to respect their needs and to protect them.



“With this year's campaign on transitioning to clean energy, the Consumer International aims to have access to energy systems that are sustainable, inclusive and just. At the time of the biggest cost-of-living crisis in a generation and drastic responses to energy supplies and the state of the climate, consumers need to play a key role in driving the clean energy transition,” Galda said.



LSU Ozamiz, Sustainable Officer Engr. Esmael O. Larubis discussed the Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction through Renewable Energy Resources.



“We want to adapt towards climate change, yun po talaga ang pinaka reason. We are diverting our processes because we want to adopt with the climate change, the effects of climate change and by 2040, we aspire for 50 percent and hoping for this plan on renewable energy, there can also be updates so that we can reach those targets,” he explained.




For the second speaker, Christian Aries tackled the feasibility of the solar panel in the local market.



Meanwhile, LandBank of the Phil, Zamboanga Del Norte lending Center, Ozamiz Satellite Office Account Officer Amalia Emperio shared the LandBank Renewable Energy financing program that will cater entrepreneurs for those who want to avail in relation to the clean energy transitions.



Consumer Protection Division Head Maritess B. Alcampado shared that every March 15 of each year, World Consumers Rights Day is celebrated to acknowledge and recognize the rights of consumers.



“This is the day that raises global awareness about consumer rights, consumer protection and empowerment. This is also a perfect opportunity to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected,” she emphasized.



DTI MisOcc strives to focus on strengthening consumer protection while simultaneously encouraging consumers to be aware of their rights and drive the clean and sustainable energy transition. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
