DPWH MisOcc urges LGUs to activate sustainable programs for riverbanks
Lumingkit said District 2 has 116 km of national roads to be maintained, and areas covered include five municipalities and two cities in Misamis Occidental, namely Ozamiz City and Tangub City, and the municipalities of Don Victoriano, Bonifacio, Clarin, Tudela, and Sinacaban.
There is ongoing widening of roads, she said. One of the reasons for project delays is road right-of-way and traffic considerations.
As to bridges, District 2 has 41 bridges, all of which are newly constructed.
Meanwhile, DPWH 1st Engineering District Office OIC-Assistant District Engineer Ramisis Jaimar Y. Bicoy shared they conducted a total of 22 days of clean-up to remove road debris, such as mud, among others. Minor repairs included only slope protection on bridges.
"We have to clean up along the side, we prevent future nga panghitabo. Katong lugar nga dili na angay puy-an, gipa-vacate na, dili na angay pabalikon ang mga katawhan, kay sumala sa among na obserbahan, gitongtong naman gali ang haligi diha sa slope protection, gadungag og danger sa ilang pagpuyo, so, in the succeeding days, dili na gyud allowed ang pagbalay dinha duol sa tulay," Bicoy said.
(We have to clean up along the side to prevent future happenings. Those areas that are not designed for residential use should be vacated, and people should not return to those areas. Based on our observation, the house structure is already placed on slope protection; it adds danger to their day-to-day lives, so in succeeding days, it should not be allowed to build homes near the river)
DPWH District 1 includes Oroquieta City, Aloran, Panaon, Jimenez, Lopez Jaena, Plaridel, Calamba, Concepcion, and Sapang Dalaga. (JMOR/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
