To improve public's access to government health services, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go announced the establishment of Super Health Centers in the province particularly in Aloran, Bonifacio, Clarin, Oroquieta, and Ozamiz City.

“Para gyud na sa mga lugar nga lagyo kay nakakita ko sauna ang mga buntis usahay manganak sa tricycle ug sa jeep pwerting layua sa mga hospital, karon butangan nag super health center sa mga liblib nga lugar ug para gyud na sa inyong tanan,” said Go.

(This is for those living in far flung areas because I saw before pregnant women who gave birth in tricycle and jeepneys because the hospitals are so far away, this time we will put super health centers to those far flung areas and this is all for you)

The senator also said that this is part of his advocacy to strengthen the provision of healthcare services to ensure that poor people have access to medical services.

Advocated by Go, Super Health Centers are medium versions of polyclinics and are bigger than rural health units, which offer basic services such as out-patient, birthing, dental, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit, among others.

Sen. Go also revealed that this Law was enacted through the support of Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal when he was the second district representative.

The Super Health Center facilities are placed by the Department of Health in strategic areas to provide immediate medical services to people far from hospitals.

To provide quality healthcare services to Misamisnons, Senator Go has urged those with health problems to seek the services of the Malasakit Centers at Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. (MHARS) Medical Center in Ozamiz City and Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital in Tangub City.

“Wala pong pinipili ang Malasakit Center, basta Pilipino ka, qualified ka po sa Malasakit Center. Para po ‘yan sa poor and indigent patients. Inyo po ‘yan, mga kababayan ko,” Go declared.

(Malasakit Center do not choose anyone, you must simply be a Filipino to be qualified. This is for the poor and indigent patients. That is for you my fellow Filipinos)

Meanwhile, Senator Go also encouraged Misamisnons who are in need of heart operation and prosthesis to be brought to Manila. He assured them of help for hospitalization and fare.

The Malasakit Center serves as a one-stop shop for medical assistance programs offered by the DSWD, DOH, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. There are now 154 such centers that have helped millions of Filipinos nationwide. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
