175 couples tie the knot in Ozamiz for 'Kasalan sa Pasko’

In celebration of the Feast of Immaculate Conception, a total of 175 couples in Ozamiz City tied the knot during the "Kasalan sa Pasko 2022” hosted by the City Government of Ozamiz on Thursday, December 8, 2022 held at Cotta Fort.

City Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr., who officiated the ‘Kasalan sa Pasko’ stressed the importance of commitment, communication, humility, respect, intimacy, service, and trust in married life.

Mayor Oaminal said the exchange of vows legitimizes the union of couples who have been living together for years and have children.

“Inyong i-formalize, i-legalize inyohang union para dira sa inyong kaugalingong panimalay masugod nato ug lihok pag-abot sa 5Ms,” he emphasized.

(You formalize, legalize your union so that in your own home we can start apply the 5Ms)

He also said the official marriage of the parents would greatly benefit their children.

“Mao na ang importance sa pagkasal because proven naman gyud na nga ang usa ka society o katalingban nga magmalampuson, ang ilang mga anak nga naay saktong character ug gagikan sila sa usa ka panimalay nga ang mama ug ang papa naghinigugmaay, nagtinabangay, ug committed gyud not only to each other but to their respective families and to their children,” he added.

(That is the importance of marriage because it has been proven that a society or community that will be successful, their children who have the right character and they will come from a home where mom and dad love each other , working together, and really committed not only to each other but to their respective families and to their children)

Among the couples who were wed was Sunny Duntar, 47, Moraly Duntar, 58 from Baybay Santa Cruz, Ozamiz City who thanked the City Government for providing all of them free wedding and assistance for their family.

Each couple received wedding cake, gas stove burner with LPG tank and P30,000 cash gift. The city also gave special price to the the best prenup photo, best love story, longest cohabiting couple, most number of kids.
