DPWH MisOcc completes FMR in barangay Sibula, Lopez Jaena
With improved market access, farmers are now further encouraged to plant more to increase productivity, boost local commerce and reduce post-harvest losses.
The completion of the Farm-to-Market Road project in Barangay Sibula also lowers transportation costs and connects farmland and seaside areas to major highways, thus, supporting agro-tourism.
This Php 6.5 Million project was primarily constructed to connect rural areas to commercial centers so that farmers and food growers may use this road to transfer their products to city markets and other distribution centers.
This initiative shall increase local revenue while ensuring food and environmental safety. This project was funded under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or the Bayanihan II of FY 2020.
Through this project, aside from the increased productivity in the area, it is also seen to enhance the quality of life in isolated rural areas. (DPWH Misamis Occidental 1st DEO)
