400 couples tie knot in Oroquieta






A total of 400 couples from Misamis Occidental tied the knot during the “Kasalan sa Kapitolyo 2022” hosted by the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental.

During the "Kasalan sa Kapitolyo" held at Bayfront Arena, Oroquieta City, each couple received a wedding cake and P25,000 cash gift from the provincial government.

The representatives of the first and second districts of Misamis Occidental also gave P10,000 cash gift to the oldest couple, youngest couple, longest cohabiting couple, couple with most number of children, and couple with huge age difference.

“Karon niining programa nato, kami, si vice governor ug ang atong board members uban usab sa atong mga department heads sa kapitolyo ug 1,752 ka mga empleyado nga naningkamot gayud nga magmalampuson ang ato karon nga kalihukan. Malipayon sad mi nga nahatag namo ang maong opportunidad kaninyo nga sa inyong kasal makasal obispo gayud nato sa tibuok diocese sa Ozamiz naa pa uban ang atong 17 ka parian representing sa 17 local nga municipalities and cities diri sa sa atoang probinsya,” Governor Henry Oaminal shared.

(Now in this program, we, the vice governor and our board members together with our department heads in the capitol and 1,752 employees are really trying to make sure this event a success. We are happy that we were able to give you this opportunity to have the bishop officiate the wedding the entire diocese of Ozamiz with our 17 priests representing the 17 local municipalities and cities here in our province)

Among the couples who were wed, was Purtogal Sanchez, 45, Jackielyn Sanches, 30 from Dulipos Bajo, Oroquieta City who thanked the provincial government for providing a free wedding and assistance for their family.

“Nagpasalamat mi nga apil mi aning kasalan ng bayan nga nalibre mi ug dako pod ko pasalamat sa Ginoo nga na apil mi sa kasalan ng bayan. Nagpasalamat ko sa pag sponsor ani ni governor, congressman, mayor kay kung wala pa sila hangtod nalang matigulang mi dili makasal kay wala man mi kwarta,” Purtugal Sanchez said.

(We are thankful that we are included in this kasalan ng bayan since it's for free and I am also very thankful to the Lord that we are included in the kasalan ng bayan. I thank the governor, congressman, and mayor for sponsoring this because if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be able to get married until we get old because we don't have money)

'Kasalan sa Kapitolyo' is one of the highlights of the 93rd Anniversary Celebration of the province.

The ceremony was attended by Governor Henry Oaminal, 2nd District Rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal, First District Rep. Jason Almonte, mayors, board members and other officials of the province. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
