DOE Intensifies gasoline station, LPG retailers inspection in Ozamiz

The Department of Energy-Mindanao Field Office (DOE-MFO) together with the representatives from DOE Central Office spearheaded the conduct of the Focused Inspection (FI) and Compliance Monitoring Activities cum Information Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on DOE rules and regulations and standards in Ozamiz City and Misamis Occidental.

The Focused Inspection is an integrated activity of the DOE in cooperation with various concerned government agencies and LGUs that intends to enforce relevant laws, rules and regulations and safety standards based on the respective mandates of the participating agencies.

Chief Science Research Specialist Department of Energy Mindanao Engr. Theodric R. Alingalan encouraged the industry players to follow the existing DOE rules and regulations.

“Para sa mga gasoline players, we encourage them to follow the existing DOE rules and regulations as well as other regulations of other government agencies for safety and benefit of the consumers as well as maiwasan natin yung mga penalty sa ngayon na medyo intensive yung competition ng fuels industry mas maigi sumunod tayo at maiwasan natin yung multa,” he said.

DOE also conducted compliance monitoring and inspection of liquid fuels retail outlets and LPG establishment in Ozamiz City to ensure that consumers get the right quantity of products being dispensed and are not short-changed amidst the rising cost of fuels in the market.

Inspectors from DOE-Mindanao Field Office perform calibration checks of dispensing machines to validate that the quantity of products being dispensed is correct. The move is to assure the consumers that every centavo they spend on fuels is well spent.

In an interview, Leonnel Naranjo, staff, Suansing Petron in Ozamiz, commented about the monitoring and inspection of DOE.

“Wala mi problima ana ka’y naga follow man mi sa protocol sa DOE. Sa ilang pag-anhi okay ra sad para ang tanang consumer makabalo nga ang among produkto is okay ug dili ingon nga naa’y smuggle ug kulang ba. Katong manubila’y dili sila mabalaka ka’y kini among produkto wala gyud ni sagol ug sakto gyud ni sa sukod,’’ he explained.

(We don't have any problem with that because we are following the protocol of the DOE. When they come, it's okay for all consumers to know that our product is okay and not as if there is something smuggled or lacking.
