DTI-MisOcc confers ‘Bagwis Awards’ to 8 establishments


The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) office in Misamis Occidental turned over Bagwis awards to eight business establishments that extended outstanding customer service for the year 2021.

The Bagwis award is awarded to business establishments that adhere to strict consumer laws, have consumer welfare desks and give quality customer care to clients.

During the awarding ceremony, DTI Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan said that the DTI Bagwis Program formerly known as the DTI-Certified Business Establishment Program was launched on July 26, 2006.

"DTI-Bagwis program aims to give due recognition to establishments that uphold rights of consumers and practice responsible business where consumers get value for money," Tabucan added.

Meanwhile, DTI MisOcc Consumer Protection Division, Supervising Head Maritess Alcampado challenged the bronze and silver awardee to upgrade their award to silver and gold.

The recipients of the Bronze Seal Award were Unitop General Merchandise, Esprutingkle retail Store Corporation (7-Eleven) in Oroquieta, Tangub and Ozamiz branch, VIC Imperial Appliance Corporation (Imperial Appliance Plaza) and Princemin Corporation (Prince Hypermart-Tangub).

Meanwhile, ABI Interior Hardware and Centino Convenience Store (7 Eleven) Ozamiz branch received the Silver award. 

At present, no establishment received the gold award.

The DTI Bagwis Awards has three levels namely the Bronze Seal, Silver Seal, and Gold Seal.

In the province of Misamis Occidental, a total of 92 establishments were awarded by DTI from 2008 to 2021.(Shaine Mae R. Nagtalon/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
